Well... I guess we celebrated Version 0.28 a little too early.

We've just released Version 0.281, a maintenance update focused on fixing several issues that slipped through during testing. Fortunately, none of them were major enough to break the overall gameplay, although one particular issue turned out to be more important than we initially realized.

As many of you know, High School Days offers multiple story routes, and sometimes that means players make choices we never expected.

For example... if Ashley and Kana leave town during the Family comes first or Stream your life events?

  • How do the Halloween events work when both sisters are supposed to appear in costume, and each of them has their own special scene? (in different events though)
  • Or what about Chloe's event, Jealousy Runs in the Family, which begins after Chloe catches Ashley and the MC leaving his room?

And here's another one...

  • What if Elizabeth has left town during the Still loving you event, but she's supposed to appear in the Halloween in a costume?

Originally, we had implemented a workaround to prevent these scenarios from breaking the story. However, thanks to reports from a few players (Seriously, who would tell Lizzy it's best if she leaves?), we discovered that the solution wasn't as reliable as we'd hoped.

As a result, we've gone back and redesigned a large portion of those event conditions to ensure they behave much more naturally, regardless of the choices you've made throughout the game.

We also took the opportunity to fix several smaller issues, you can find the complete list of changes in the changelog.

If, and only if you've encountered any of these issues, we strongly recommend downloading Version 0.281.

And if not, you can safely skip this update and simply wait for our next major release, scheduled for the end of August.

If you've already purchased the game in Patreon or Itch, you do not need to pay again, we've simply updated the existing download links with the latest build, so you can download the new version using the same links you already received after your purchase.

Finally, we'd like to sincerely thank everyone who reported these issues.

Creating a game with so many branching paths is always a challenge. We do our best to account for every possible decision our players can make, but every now and then, a hidden route reveals something we overlooked.

Even if only a handful of players ever experience a particular path, our goal remains the same: every route deserves to feel polished, immersive, and bug-free.

Thank you for helping us make High School Days better with every update.
